A cloudy morning with a gusty w.s.westerly greeted the 10 DF skippers who turned up in anticipation of winning the coveted Dancing Dragon for 2022.
Was it 'A' rig or 'B' rig? I heard the skippers asking. Opinion was divided....
A minor entanglement followed, randomly resolved by a heroic passerby who removed his shoes,
rolled up his trousers and stepped into the freezing pond to rescue to Rod and Ian's boats - what a star.... The rescue pole had decided discretion was the better part of valor and gone into hiding.

The choppy water, the gusty and shifty winds helped the boats to go either very fast or lose way at every opportunity, sometimes stalling them in the tacks. A rig or B rig didnt seem to matter although B prevailed in the long run. Clearly, maintaining momentum was the order of the day, and those that could maintain their speed had the advantage. (Hmm, now where have I heard that before?
So it was not surprising to see Mr Cockerill senior regularly taking line honors whilst being given a good run for his money by Dave Acres sailing 528 and Rod Carr (30) with one epic finish in race 8 when Rod manouvered himself into a starboard tacking advantage over Dave on the final leg.

A good time was had by all, and thanks must go to David C-J for organising it, Chris Durant who kept everyone in order and the band of happy observers who made sure all the skippers behaved themselves.
