Nigel Barrow with the CoM Trophy

With 16 starters lining up to vie for the title this year, it was clearly going to quite some competition. Many thanks to Race officers, Martin Wilson and David Campbell-James for looking after us so well and setting a variety of courses in winds that were variable and often fickle, albeit the sun shone brightly throughout.

A glance at the scoresheet (attached) reveals that almost all found these conditions tricky with pretty much everyone experiencing several disastrous results, whether due to weed, collisions or simply sailing into the wrong shift.  Repeatedly.  I say 'almost all' because one person managed to sail consistently all morning (except for that black flag incident) to record a score of 9 overall and take the title. That man was Nigel Barrow, seen below wearing the ceremonial sash and victor's hat and proudly holding the trophy. A true cock, indeed, to his peers.

Dave Cockerill was the best of the rest in second place on 24 points with Greg Swift in third on 25 points.  Full results are attached.
